Conflict

What it means

The request conflicts with the current state of the resource.

Common causes

• The resource is in a state that does not allow this change.
• A value that must be unique is already taken.

What to do

Read the resource again, decide whether the change still makes sense, and send a corrected request.

Retry: only after a fix. The same request fails the same way until you change the request, the credential or the resource.

Over MCP, the same failure is a tool result with isError: true, the code conflict and retryable: false.
