Bad request

What it means

The request could not be read: bad JSON, a wrong content type or a malformed value.

Common causes

• The body is not valid JSON.
• A request with a body was sent without Content-Type: application/json.
• A query parameter or a pagination cursor is malformed, for example a cursor from another list.

What to do

Fix the request and send it again. The same request will fail the same way.

Retry: only after a fix. The same request fails the same way until you change the request, the credential or the resource.

Over MCP, the same failure is a tool result with isError: true, the code bad_request and retryable: false.
